Digital X-Ray Technology

Our digital X-ray uses as much as 85 percent less radiation than traditional X-ray technology.

Digital x-rays are one of the most important new advances in our office. We are not only able to reduce your exposure to radiation but also increase our diagnostic proficiency. In addition to increased diagnostics, we reduce the amount of harmful chemicals and other waste materials associated with traditional X-ray technology. The waste reduction was a significant consideration when deciding to invest in digital technology. We pride ourselves on being as “green” and environmentally responsible as possible.

Digital Impressions For Dentistry And Orthodontics

In the past, getting dental impressions was nobody’s favorite part of a dental or orthodontic appointment. The putty that molds around the teeth didn’t taste great, and it could be hard not to gag when it oozed toward the back of the throat.

Thanks to modern technology, Dr. Myers can now use digital optical impressions to get all the information she needs without relying on putty. Our convenient handheld digital scanner makes it convenient and more comfortable to get the digital imagery we need for diagnostics and treatment planning.

How Do Digital Impressions Work?

Digital impressions use cutting-edge laser and scanning technology to create a virtual 3D replica of the inside of the patient’s mouth. The entire process only takes minutes, and the digital impressions eliminate some of the errors that come up with traditional impressions. A traditional impression is an imperfect “negative” image of the teeth, whereas a digital impression is an accurate “positive” image of the teeth that enables Dr. Myers to zoom in for more careful evaluation.

Digital impressions aren’t just better for Dr. Myers; they’re also better for you! In addition to letting you say goodbye to the putty, digital impressions are faster, more comfortable, ensure better treatment thanks to greater accuracy, and sometimes even cut down your number of appointments! Same Day Crowns With CEREC Technology

Here at Emerald Isle Smiles, dental crowns are integral to many dental restoration treatments we perform. This includes implants, root canals, or simply covering and strengthening a tooth damaged by trauma or decay. Dental crowns restore your smile, preserve the integrity of your mouth’s structure, and help you maintain excellent oral health.

Dental Crowns In One Visit At Emerald Isle Smiles

With traditional dental crowns, treatment is completed in multiple visits. During the first visit, after a tooth impression is taken, a dental lab makes the crown while the patient wears a temporary crown for a couple of weeks. The patient then returns for a second visit to have their crown put in place.

We understand the value of your time. To save you time and hassle, our practice uses leading-edge CEREC technology. CEREC crowns are completed in one visit. The CEREC technology utilizes an infrared camera that takes 3D images of your damaged tooth and sends those images directly to our CEREC machine. Your crown is milled inside the machine right here in our office, providing us with the ability to complete your procedure on the same day.

Laser Dentistry in Emerald Isle

Dr. Myers can incorporate the use of a soft tissue dental laser to address concerns related to the health or appearance of your gums. Soft tissue lasers can effectively treat a gummy smile and even the effects of gum disease.

Dental lasers may also be used to treat cold sores and other common oral health problems affecting soft tissue.

Intraoral Camera Technology At Emerald Isle Smiles

We’ve found that sometimes it’s difficult for our patients to understand the condition of their teeth the way that Dr. Myers does. One way that we improve our patients’ dental experience is through the use of an intraoral camera in our diagnosis.

What Is An Intraoral Camera?

An intraoral camera is a small, pen-like device with a camera on the end. The camera contains a bright LED that helps us diagnose cavities or fractures too small to see with the naked eye. The camera is connected to a monitor that allows you to see up close what Dr. Myers is seeing. This dramatically improves your dental experience by helping you understand why Dr. Myers would recommend a certain treatment.

Why We Use An Intraoral Camera

Our goal here at Emerald Isle Smiles is to make your experience as easy and effective as possible, which is why we use an intraoral camera in our diagnostic process. Patients have routinely expressed their appreciation of our intraoral camera. They get to see up close the state of their teeth, including problems such as cracked teeth, decay, worn-out or defective fillings, bleeding gums, and plaque.

3D Printing for Dentistry

Dr. Myers is committed to the ongoing addition of leading technology when it can improve your experience as a patient. Our in-office 3D printing capability can provide faster treatment for bite problems with custom 3D printed splints and bite guards. We can also create our custom bleaching trays for teeth whitening, using digital dental impressions and 3D printing.

Advanced Teeth Whitening with Zoom!

You may be considering teeth whitening to remove stains caused by smoking, coffee, soda, wine, and other foods. Or maybe you have a special occasion like a wedding, job interview, or class reunion coming up. Whatever the reason, we have solutions to meet your unique needs. There are many different ways to whiten your teeth. Dr. Myers offers a range of treatment options, including in-office and take-home professional teeth whitening. We offer Zoom! teeth whitening for a new smile that can be brightened up to 10 shades in one office treatment or over a period of weeks using a custom take-home package.

How Do Whitening Trays Work?

Whitening with trays (sometimes called bleaching) is a type of professional whitening that uses custom-made trays and whitening gel only available through Emerald Isle Smiles. We place a whitening gel in a custom-fitted tray that fits perfectly over your teeth. As the peroxide in the gel breaks down, hydroxyradicals help whiten your teeth by removing stains. Unlike whitening strips, this process whitens all your natural teeth and may contain ingredients that provide maximum comfort. This at-home process generally takes ten to fourteen days, although you may notice results in as little as three to five days.
